Visit to Jebel Hafeet & Green Mubazzarah

Made an impulsive visit to Jebel Hafeet & Green Mubazzarah in Al Ain.

Why impulsive? We is referred to myself and Mr. Rafi. Tag Team from Fujairah~!

Well it was an unplanned trip and spontaneous which was kick off just by a phone call. As usual we will be heading down to Dubai to visit the shopping or even just to have Burger King. As in Fujairah the best we can have is Pizza Hut and KFC. Its our weekly treat to ourselves for fast food.

We started our journey from Fujairah at 4pm. We were equip with a Garmin 255W GPS loaded with Middle East Map 2010 updates. With full faith we trusted the GPS to bring us to Al-Ain to meet up with our friend; Mr. Bob. We did not even have a map of UAE. So in GPS we trust~!

Our GPS brought us to the border of Kalba - Oman which happen to be the nearest route to Al-Ain as Al-Ain is located on the border of Oman - UAE. Ha ha ha~! Guess what we did not bring our passport so we have to make a U-turn and head for another road which is less travelled by the Emiratis and our first time~!

We head to the Sharjah - Kalba Highway. The road was like spiral going up the hill. It took us like an hour or so before we get to see any civilisations. Deserts on both the roads as well as camels.

After travelling about 400 over kms and spend nearly 4 hours and we arrive at Jebel Hafeet at 8pm.

This is what I have photographed.

On the way to Jebel Hafeet.

Trying to get a good shot but then due to the fog. This is the best i can take. Its summer and the air is very humid therefore visibility is short.

Road head up to the top of Jebel Hafeet

Road heading down to from the top

Its a superb view from the top to see how a desert city can be so colourful from a top of the mountain.
All this development was built in just in 10 years time. Before this is was a plain field desert.

From the foot hill of Jebel Hafeet.

Its a park called Green Mubazzarah

Trying to perfect my starburst. Notice the lights like sparkles?

Starburst effect~!

More Starburst~!

Where is the star burst effect? I wonder why?

There is pool which is fill from the Wadi's water.

He he he Starburst at the pool~!

The other side of the park.

Mr. Stewart. Travel mate from Dubai.

Overall, its was a fun trip and very impulsive. Travel back to Dubai and overnight at Bob's. Total 649 km was done in a single day which made us arrive in Dubai at 0148.

Looking forward for the next trip on 27th May 2010 which I will be going to Muscat and Musandam, Oman~!

How to fillet a fish

This is a post about how are you going to fillet a fish step by step.

First you need these items as below:

  1. Fish
  2. Knife (preferred to have a fillet knife or small knife)

The FISH

Cut down at the back of the head of the fish

Cut at the fins (top) area to cut throught until u reach the other end of the fins (bottom)

Cut the back of the tails

At the bottom of the fin which is near the fish tummy

Now u have a piece of fish fillet but its not done.

Cut of the tummy area as this part has the most bones.
Do check and feel the fillet with your hands as they might have more bones on the fillet.

If the photos can help you with the filleting of the fish.

I hereby present you the video of fish fillet.

Enjoy~!

Dinner - Weekend Dinner Treat

A nice an unique dinner treat by my colleague. Only on weekend, we have free time to cook, rest and spend some time for ourselves. Today's menu will be:

Onion chicken wing of The Lok Chef~! - his own recipe
Boil and pan fried artichoke with ham and garlic - his own recipe

Artichoke with the ham and top with garlic.

See the garlic colve are first pan fried to have the aromatic flavour.
Chicken wings in the pot.

My dinner plate.

Chef of the day.
The Lok

Chicken wings - its soft and tender as due to the style of cooking. The chef choose to sort of stew the chicken wings. It took him about 1 hour to cook them under a low heat burner. The chicken wings are sweet due to the onions and full or herbs (dried parsley). It was a good combination of flavour. As onion are sweet and the parsley is a bit sour. The wings are very tender which u can even chew the bones to slip the flavour.

Artichoke - This is very new to me as I have never taste or seen this before. Its actually a type of plant. I was impressed with the presentation of the artichoke on the plate. By the colours of the ham which red to bring up the colour of the artichoke. The artichoke was boil to soften then pan fry ro have the golden brown colour. Then saute ham and garlic as the topping of the artichoke. The taste of the artichoke is slightly a bit sour but I love sour. (no I'm not pregnant). The whole garlic makes the whole artichoke fill with strong aroma.

A great dinner. Thanks to The Lok.

 The country side
This is where they plant sunflower during spring time. you can imaginethe whole land is yellow in colour.

I just like the country side. Peaceful~!
A landmark which I always look for when I'm in a new place.
The SPS Hotel. It was quite far from the city but its a 3 star hotel. cost about 30 Eur per nite for a double bed.
Some Building on top of the hill. That is consider the old Plovdiv city.

Plovdiv was the capital before Sofia back in the old age.
Tunnel for road crossing.

Nice cafe for a coffee in the morning after a rough night.

The cafe
To bad they don't have big McDonald in Stara Zagora. Thats very tempting.
The local Bulgarian pizza.
It is cheap here about BGN 1.30 per slice. About 0.70 Eur.
Different topping of pizza.
Due to the nice weather. There is a huge number of cafes here.
Its nice to enjoy the cooling weather and the pretty people passing by.
The crowd
This is the museum fornting the park.
The Bulgarian architecture.

A Bulgarian got excited seeing a Chinese carrying SLR and jumping with joy for a candid.

Overall, Plovdiv was a nice city to be. As its not over crowded by human being. The night life in Plovdiv is amazing. the clubs a huge and full of chicks and the brews are all over the place. I did not carry my DSLR when I was at the clubs or bar. Its to obvious to take photo. I'm planning to get a better camera phone to take those moments.
